Detectives for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Friday sought the public’s help with locating a 37-year-old man suspected of knocking out a store employee who tried to stop him from shoplifting.
Quandrell Ivey, who is now the subject of an arrest warrant, allegedly pushed the worker down, “rendering him unconscious” and then fled the store in the 200 block of South Avenue around 12:50 p.m. on March 17, according to the LASD.
Investigators allege the victim intervened when he saw Ivey remove items from a store display then walk past the register on his way to exit without paying.
Ivey is also wanted for a parole violation, according to the sheriff’s department.
Ivey is Black, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators say he is a transient known to hang out in Hollywood.
Anyone with information about Ivey’s location or the alleged crime was urged to contact the sheriff’s East Los Angeles Station at 323-264-4151. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you may call “L.A. Crime Stoppers” at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
