A Los Angeles Police Department officer is in stable condition Saturday after his official vehicle was rear-ended in South Los Angeles.
The collision occurred at 3:53 a.m. Saturday just east of the intersection of West Florence and South Grand avenues, east of the Harbor (110) Freeway.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the patrol unit was detained at the scene, an LAPD officer told City News Service.
The officer was being treated at a hospital after the collision.
