A 49-year-old woman who was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while walking outside of a crosswalk in Long Beach was identified by county authorities Tuesday.

The victim, identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office, was Heaven Hooper,

The crash was reported about 3:55 a.m. Sunday. Officers were dispatched to the area of Ninth Street and Fashion Avenue and when they arrived on scene Long Beach Fire Department personnel were rendering medical aid to the woman, police said.

Hooper, was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to the Long Beach Police Department, whose officials said they were informed of the fatality on Wednesday.

“The preliminary investigation indicates a white Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Ninth Street when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway outside of a crosswalk,” according to an LBPD statement. “The Toyota Tacoma fled the scene.”
