Police Thursday are continuing their investigation of a shooting near downtown Long Beach that wounded a man.
Long Beach Police Department officers responded at approximately 12:23 a.m. Wednesday regarding a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, the police department said.
The victim told police he took himself to a hospital after he was shot in the area of Second Street and Cerritos Avenue. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to find any evidence related to a shooting, police said.
The motive, circumstances of the shooting and the suspect information are under investigation.
