Felony charges are expected to be filed Friday against a motorist suspected of plowing into a motorcyclist at a Woodcrest intersection, killing him.

Noel Guzman Cisneros, 36, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence resulting in great bodily injury or death and DUI vehicular manslaughter.

Bail information was unavailable. The case was under review Thursday by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Cisneros’ speedy arraignment window under state law will close Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Porter Avenue.

CHP Officer Javier Navarro said that the victim, identified only as a 39-year-old Riverside man, was aboard his 2021 Harley-Davidson, stopped for a red light on westbound Van Buren, when Cisneros approached from behind at an undetermined speed in his 2017 Nissan Sentra.

“(The suspect) failed to see the Harley stopped for the red light,” Navarro said. “The Nissan struck the rear of the Harley … and the rider was ejected onto the roadway. The Harley was then pushed forward into the intersection and collided into a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe making a turn … to westbound Van Buren.”

Cisneros did not attempt to flee.

Paramedics arrived minutes later and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy, whose identity was not disclosed, was not injured, nor was the suspect. The extent of damage to the SUV wasn’t available.

Cisneros was determined by officers to be under the influence of intoxicating substances, Navarro alleged.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the downtown Riverside jail without incident.

Background information on him wasn’t available Thursday.
