A two-car crash Friday on Interstate 10 in Beaumont injured one motorist and snarled traffic, but did not require lane closures.
The collision was reported at 3:10 p.m. Friday on westbound I-10 near Beaumont Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the agency, a Nissan sedan and Tesla impacted, but no other details were immediately available.
There were initial reports that a pickup truck was involved in the crash, but the vehicle was only struck by flying debris and not significantly damaged, according to reports from the scene. The Tesla driver was jammed inside the car for a few minutes before managing to crawl out of a window, the CHP stated.
All of the vehicles ended up in the center divider, out of lanes.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location minutes later and found one of the motorists with unspecified minor to moderate injuries. The party, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment. No one else was hurt.
Traffic was backed up because of the presence of public safety personnel on the freeway, but all lanes remained accessible.
The CHP was investigating the cause of the collision.
