A 61-year-old man charged with criminal threats and attacking a custodial officer in Placentia has died while in custody, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.
Manuel Moreno of Yorba Linda was taken by ambulance from the Theo Lacy Facility Tuesday to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead Wednesday, deputies said.
Moreno’s cause of death will be determined after an independent autopsy is conducted.
Moreno had been in custody since Dec. 11. He was charged with felony counts of criminal threats, vandalism, and battery on a custodial officer as well as misdemeanor counts of obstructing arrest, battery and aggravated trespass.
