The Los Angeles Sparks fired general manager Raegan Pebley Sunday, handing her duties to assistant GMs Zach Knowlton and Nate Nielsen on an interim basis.
“We are grateful to Raegan for her leadership and commitment to the Los Angeles Sparks and women’s basketball,” team managing partner and governor Eric Holoman said in a statement. “Her work on the Sparks roster and player experience will have a lasting positive impact on our organization. We sincerely thank her for all she has invested in the Sparks and wish her success in her next chapter.”
The Sparks are currently 10-11 and would miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year if the regular season ended Sunday.
Pebley was named Sparks GM on Jan. 5, 2024, succeeding Karen Bryant. Former Lakers guard Derek Fisher was the team’s head coach and general manager prior to Bryant’s tenure.
Pebley, who was born in Fountain Valley, played in the WNBA in 1997 and 1998.
“Raegan’s a friend of mine, and I care about her,” Sparks coach Lynne Roberts said, according to ESPN. “And this is the hard part in sports, right? But right now I’m just focused on the team.”
