The 18th-largest lottery jackpot in American history, $800 million, will be at stake Tuesday after no tickets with all six numbers were sold for the 36th consecutive drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions game.
There were also no tickets sold with five numbers, but missing the Mega number, the Mega Millions Consortium, which conducts the game, announced.
The numbers drawn Friday were 2, 5, 42, 44, 60 and the Mega number was 1. The estimated jackpot was $743 million.
Tuesday’s jackpot will be 10th largest in the history of the game which began in 1996 as The Big Game and was given the new name Mega Millions in 2002. There have been eight larger Powerball jackpots.
The jackpot is the nation’s largest lottery prize since a $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot was won Dec. 24 and the largest for the Mega Millions game since Nov. 14, 2025, when a $983 million jackpot was won.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 290,472,336, according to the Mega Millions Consortium. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 35.
The Mega Millions game is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
