A man on a bicycle was killed Monday in a crash on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in East Los Angeles.
The crash was reported about 3:20 a.m. on the southbound Long Beach Freeway just north of Floral Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
“At least one vehicle was involved and one person was pronounced dead at the scene,” Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:52 a.m. shutting down southbound lane Nos. 2 and 3 south of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway while officers investigated the crash. Lane 2 was re-opened at about 5:40 a.m.
All lanes were reopened and the SigAlert was cancelled about 8:15 a.m., according to an officer who confirmed that a male adult bicyclist died at the scene.
The driver whose vehicle struck the victim stopped as required.
