A 74-year-old man convicted of attempted murder two decades ago pleaded guilty again to attempted murder Tuesday and was immediately sentenced to five years in prison.
Cu Van Cao pleaded guilty to felony counts of attempted murder and corporal injury on a woman he was living with in Santa Ana.
Cao attacked the victim on June 21, 2025, according to the criminal complaint.
Cao pled guilty Sept. 22, 2003, to attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for the use of a deadly weapon and inflicting great bodily injury on the victim, according to court records. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to court records.
