Authorities Friday released the name of a woman who was killed last week in a shooting in downtown Los Angeles.
Violeta Castillo, whose place of residence was not immediately available, was killed by a male suspect around 2:33 a.m. on Aug. 27 near the intersection of South Towne Avenue and East 6th Street, a Los Angeles Police spokesperson said.
Castillo’s name was released by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, which reported she died from a gunshot wound to the head and died on a sidewalk.
A witness reported seeing the suspect on a bicycle, fleeing north on Towne Avenue, according to the LAPD.
Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Video from the location showed the street blocked off and police officers investigating the homicide.
