A Los Angeles man was sentenced Thursday to 16 years to life in state prison for the Christmas Day stabbing death of his stepfather.
Rudy Flores, 22, pleaded guilty Sept. 10 to second-degree murder for the Dec. 25, 2013, stabbing of Nery Ambrosio, 54, and admitted an allegation that he personally used a knife during the crime.
Flores had been arguing with his mother about a baseball bat she had hidden from him and the woman refused to tell him where it was and went to her bedroom, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
As she closed the door, Flores pushed his way in and stabbed his stepfather, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A family member called 911 following the attack.
