Rush hour traffic on a freeway through Glendora was even worse than usual Thursday morning.
A diesel fuel spill from a big rig prompted the closure of three lanes on the Orange (57) Freeway in Glendora Thursday as well as the transition from the northbound 57 to the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities received reports of the spill around 1 a.m., CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said. The tank of a big rig ruptured, causing about 100 gallons of fuel to spill onto the freeway, he said.
A SigAlert was issued, and CalTrans workers were sent to clean up the mess. Two lanes were reopened after about five hours, and the remaining lanes were reopened an hour afterward.
