A 48-year-old pedestrian was injured early Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in the Pico-Union District of Los Angeles, police said.
Juan Mendoza of Los Angeles was struck by a dark Honda about 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Venice Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Honda was southbound on Vermont when the crash occurred. Its driver left the scene in an unknown direction, police said.
Mendoza, who had been heading west when he was hit, was taken to California Hospital Medical Center for treatment of internal bleeding, a broken right leg and head trauma, according to the LAPD.
