Police Saturday released the name of the suspect and the possible charges he and his alleged juvenile accomplice will face for a violent home-invasion robbery in Santa Monica that left two people injured.
Brian Noah Morgan, 24, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, robbery and parole violation and was being held at the Santa Monica Police Department jail without bail, said Santa Monica police Lt. Saul Rodriguez.
Police did not release a place of residence for Morgan.
His alleged accomplice, a male juvenile, was arrested on the same charges — which also included attempted homicide — and has been taken to Eastlake Juvenile Hall in Los Angeles, Rodriguez said.
Both were arrested in connection with the robbery that occurred at a home in the 200 block of 19th Street, near San Vicente Boulevard and the Riviera County Club, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
Officers arriving at the scene saw a suspect, who fled from them to a rear yard at a home in the 200 block of 20th Street, Rodriguez said.
“The suspect secreted himself in the rear yard and refused to comply with officers,” he said, adding that a SWAT team and crisis negotiators were dispatched to the scene. “Following a period of negotiations, the suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of a police K-9 and SWAT officers.”
The second suspect fled the location in a vehicle northbound and out of sight, he said. Officers were able to gather vehicle information, including the license plate details, and alert law enforcement agencies.
El Monte police located the vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 11200 block of Garvey Avenue and took the second suspect into custody, Rodriguez said.
It was unclear which suspect was taken into custody in El Monte.
Two victims of the home-invasion robbery were taken to hospitals after being found bloodied, according to media reports. One of the victims was stabbed at least 12 times, NBC4 reported.
Santa Monica police used social media to warn neighborhood residents to stay inside until the situation was resolved. Police and a SWAT unit set up a perimeter around the home and just before 10 p.m. Friday, a sound diversion and a police dog were used to take the barricaded suspect into custody.
The suspect was brought out injured on a stretcher after the police dog went in the home, NBC4 reported.
One of the victims suffered significant” stabbing injuries, according to Rodriguez, while the other victim, who was struck with a blunt object, sustained minor injuries.
Police did not identity either victim. However, neighbors told several media outlets that the man was wealthy businessman Imtiaz Tar, vice president of the Beverly Hills-based Bernini clothing store, and that the second victim was his 19-year-old son.
