The coroner’s office Sunday released the name of a man killed in an argument in the Jefferson park area of South Los Angeles.

A woman with the victim was wounded.

The dead man was Depaul Graves, 27, of Los Angeles, coroner’s Investigator Kristy McCracken said.

The shots rang out at 12:45 a.m. Saturday in the area of Seventh Avenue and Montclair Street, where some type of gathering was happening, Lt. Jerry Davila of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Southwest Division said.

The victim now identified as Graves and the woman had been arguing with a suspect just prior to the shooting, said Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.

Graves was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman — who suffered several gunshot wounds to her legs — was taken to a hospital in stable condition, Davila said.

Detectives from the LAPD’s Southwest Station asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call (213) 485-2582.
