A 10-year-old girl died Saturday morning as a result of a fire in a home in Cypress Park, and one firefighter was injured
Firefighters were called about 4:30 a.m. to the 3300 block of North Thorpe Avenue and found a one-story home well involved with fire, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters immediately searched the home and found a 10-year-old girl who was quickly transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Bastman said.
A total of 29 firefighters needed just 14 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Bastman said.
The firefighter was injured when a vehicle ran over a hose line. The firefighter was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, Bastman said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
