Two men and a teenage boy were expected to survive gunshot wounds suffered in a car-to-car shooting in Santa Clarita, authorities said Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies learned about the shooting when the three victims turned up at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday, Shirley Miller of the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station said.
“The victims reportedly were traveling in a silver Honda sedan with three other occupants, one male teen and two male adults, on a road in the Newhall/Saugus area of Santa Clarita when they were shot at by a suspect in another vehicle,” Miller said. The other occupants were not hurt.
“The suspect allegedly pulled alongside the victims’ vehicle and an occupant of the suspect’s vehicle opened fire with an unknown-type firearm,” she said.
They were taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, Miller said.
“Through preliminary investigation, detectives do not feel that the shooting was random,” she said. “Detectives believe that the shooting incident could have occurred on Railroad Avenue, near Drayton Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday.”
