A motorist was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired during a DUI checkpoint in Cathedral City, authorities said Thursday.

The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. the following day at Date Palm Drive and 30th Avenue, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

Officers cited 12 drivers for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended/revoked license from the 310 vehicles contacted.

The checkpoint location was determined from impaired driving-related crash data. Police said the next checkpoint will be held in either November or December.

Funding was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
