A water main break under a parking structure at LAX Monday left some airport restrooms out of order Monday, prompting airport workers to set up portable toilets while the problem was being fixed.

The rupture, reported about 10 a.m., triggered the temporary closing of Parking Structure 2A and left  Terminal 2 without water service, airport spokeswoman Nancy Suey Castles said. Terminal 2 is home to Aeromexico, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada and several other international airlines.

Concessions in Terminal 2 were cleared to return to their normal operations this afternoon, Castles said. Portable toilets were brought to the terminal, and firefighters were put on fire watch there.

About 60 vehicles were in the parking structure when it was closed, and the owners were being told to go to the ground level lot directly opposite the terminal to make arrangements to get their cars out.

Castles said ground traffic on World Way, the U-shaped drive that brings vehicles to terminals, was unaffected by the problem. It was unclear when the problem would be fixed.

More information is posted on LAX’s official website.
