Crews building downtown’s new light rail tunnel will resume work Monday at the Los Angeles Civic Center and Bunker Hill.

Crews are doing preliminary work for the tunneling for an underground extension of the Expo and Blue lines from Seventh at Figueroa streets to connect to the Gold Line near Little Tokyo, the “Regional Connector” linking both halves of the L.A. rail system.

At First Street at Central Avenue, near Little Tokyo, underground utility relocation work will resume today, with parking restrictions and lane closures expected.

Similar work will get underway on Second Street and Broadway near the Los Angeles Times building, with Second Street closed to all eastbound traffic from Broadway to Spring Street.

Southwest of Bunker Hill, relocating underground utility conduits will mean lane closures on Flower Street between Fourth and Sixth streets, with related lane closures on Fourth, Fifth and Sixth streets two blocks east of the Harbor (110) Freeway.
