A $115 million project at Los Angeles International Airport that is expected to reduce walking times for passengers catching connecting flights is a little closer to completion, with airport officials planning to mark a major construction milestone Tuesday.
The final steel beam will be placed on top of the under-construction Terminal 4 Connector facility during a “topping out” ceremony to celebrate progress in the project.
The multi-story facility is expected to improve the connection between terminals on the airport’s south side, and will allow passengers to move more easily between the Tom Bradley International Terminal and Terminal 4, airport officials said.
The building will include new baggage inspection and transfer facilities, a bus port and a five-lane security checkpoint area.
The project is expected to be completed next year.
