Water service was restored Friday, and a stretch of Ventura Boulevard just west of Van Nuys Boulevard was re-opened to traffic after utility crews repaired an 8-inch water main whose rupture interrupted service to about four dozen businesses, authorities said.
The Department of Water and Power announced at 7:47 a.m. that all lanes in both directions on Ventura Boulevard, between Van Nuys Boulevard and Vesper Avenue, were open and repairs have been completed.
The problem was reported in the 14500 block of Ventura Boulevard about noon Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Water seeped into some businesses, but the extent of the damage was unclear.
A few blocks of westbound Ventura were closed to traffic, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was notified.
According to the LADWP, 50 customers were without water as a result of the break in the main.
