The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County Thursday recorded its largest daily decrease since March 20, dropping 1.7 cents to $3.977.
The average price has dropped four times in five days following a nine- day streak of increases that pushed the average price to its highest amount since July 26, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 2 cents lower than one week ago and 19.4 cents less than one year ago but 74.7 cents higher than one month ago because of increases prompted by lower supply caused by production problems at several refineries.
The Orange County average price Thursday recorded its largest daily decrease since March 24, dropping 1.6 cents to $3.958. It has dropped five consecutive days after a 10-day streak of increases that pushed it to its highest amount since July 24.
The Orange County average price is 2.3 cents lower than one week ago and 19.8 cents less than one year ago but 74.6 cents higher than one month ago.
