The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County Thursday recorded its largest daily decrease since Sept. 13 Thursday, dropping 2.8 cents to $2.471, its lowest amount since Jan. 31.

The average price has dropped 42 of the past 43 days, decreasing 60.4 cents, including 1.7 cents on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 12.3 cents less than one week ago, 46.4 cents lower than one month ago and 40.8 cents below what it was one year ago.

The average price decreased for 27 consecutive days, was unchanged Feb. 1, then resumed dropping the following day.

The Orange County average price Thursday recorded its largest daily decrease since Sept. 17, dropping 2.5 cents to $2.47, its lowest amount since Feb. 2.

The Orange County average price has also dropped 42 of the past 43 days, decreasing 59.9 cents, including 1.9 cents on Wednesday. It is 11.8 cents less than one week ago, 45 cents lower than one month ago and 39.6 cents below what it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price decreased for 24 consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent Jan. 31, then resumed dropping the following day.
