WARNING: THE VIDEO CONTAINS EXPLETIVES
The Sprinkles Cupcakes store at the Americana at Brand mall in Glendale was open for business this week after a voluntary closure prompted by a video circulating on YouTube of what appears to be a rat scurrying through a display case.
The company issued a statement blaming the incursion on “… an unfortunate set of circumstances, including a structural malfunction … .”
Sprinkles officials said they consulted with food-safety experts and the mall landlord and have addressed the issue.
The minute-long video — on which a women’s voice can be heard saying, “Oh my God, it’s in everything,” and exclaiming, “That’s disgusting,” was posted to YouTube on Friday and has been viewed more than 19,000 times.
It is unclear when the video was recorded, but the store was open for regular business at the beginning of this week.
