Los Angeles International Airport experienced a brief power outage Thursday that caused a slowdown in some security checkpoints and may have delayed some flights.
Fred Badlissi, a spokesman for LAX, said the power outage occurred for a “split second” around 10:30 a.m. but it caused a shutdown of some older jet bridges at Terminal 1 which passengers and crew members use to walk to and from the aircraft and terminal.
As a result, some planes on the tarmac were unable to connect with their jet bridges for some time, but Badlissi said it was not yet clear if it caused any flights to be officially delayed.
Badlissi also said some security checkpoint electronics and some baggage conveyer belts also had to be rebooted, which caused a slowdown in operations.
“Other than that, everything is operational. We are still investigating the cause,” Badlissi said.
