As the university continues to reshape its upper management, a veteran public relations expert was named Wednesday USC’s new senior vice president and chief communications officer.

Glenn Osaki has worked for three decades with the MSL international public relations firm, most recently serving as president of the Asia-Pacific region. While at the firm, he has worked with clients including Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Netflix, Nike and Nestle.

“Mr. Osaki has built a career on high ethical standards and solid relationships with stakeholders, as well as innovative team-building,” USC Interim President Wanda Austin said in a statement. “We are delighted to have such a talented leader to promote the excellent work of our Trojan family, and to ensure that USC’s many remarkable stories are told, both here and around the world.”

Austin made the announcement in conjunction with incoming USC President Carol Folt, who will take over July 1.

Osaki will take over his vice-presidential spot June 1.

“I am thrilled to apply my international brand-building and reputation management experience from outside of academia to provide an innovative perspective on digital storytelling and data-driven influence to shape USC’s communications,” Osaki said in a statement released by the university.

Osaki earned his master’s degree in public relations from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. He serves on the Board of Advisers for the USC Center for Public Relations at USC Annenberg.
