Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren will lead an online prayer gathering featuring fellow clergy from around the world on Monday, another reminder of the coronavirus pandemic’s impact.

Clergy from a variety of Christian denominations from six continents will tape messages that will be part of the 90-minute event.

Warren began an annual Pastor’s Easter Prayer Breakfast at Saddleback for all pastors in Southern California three decades ago, and it has since evolved into a simulcast throughout the Southland.

Plans were to have it shown in all counties across the state, but then the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, and Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered residents to stay at home unless they had to make necessary trips to a grocery store or doctor’s appointment or had a job in an essential service.

With in-person church services canceled, Rick Warren and his wife and Kay will lead the prayers through video conferencing and it will be live-streamed at 8 a.m. Monday via EasterPastorPrayer.com.
