A fire in a downtown commercial building Monday evening was extinguished by firefighters in under 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported about 7:40 p.m. in a one-story commercial building in the 1200 block of South Long Beach Avenue, near the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The type of business was not available.

Eighty-six firefighters battled the blaze, extinguishing it just before 8 p.m., Prange said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
