Workers at a commercial site in Irwindale were evacuated Thursday as authorities investigated an envelope with a powdery substance inside.
A hazardous materials team was summoned to the business at 6010 N. Irwindale Ave., Suite A, around 8:20 a.m., according to Christopher Thomas, of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“They received a suspicious envelope with a powdered substance in it,” he said. “They’re evacuating the employees in the area.”
There were no immediate reports of anyone getting sick from exposure to the as-yet unidentified substance, he said.
