Eating and drinking establishments in Palm Springs can now stay open until 2 a.m., effective immediately, due to a downtrend in coronavirus cases, the city announced Friday.
The prior deadline of midnight for bars, wineries, breweries and restaurants was put in place last July. The county is still in the most restrictive purple tier of the governor’s framework, meaning for those businesses to open, they must serve food.
“We would like to thank our residents, businesses and workers for their diligence in helping to stop the spread of the virus and we ask that everyone continue to social distance, wear a mask, wash hands frequently and get tested when necessary,” City Manager David Ready said.
Ready’s executive order took effect at noon Friday.
Mandatory facial covering and social distancing guidelines remain in place.
