A worker was hospitalized Tuesday after he was trapped between a forklift and about three tons of marble slabs at a business in the North Hollywood area, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the storage and sales business in the 10700 block of West Vanowen Street at about 9:40 a.m. freed the man in about 15 minutes, and paramedics took him to a hospital in fair condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Another worker was treated at the scene for a possible arm injury suffered while trying to help his coworker before the arrival of firefighters, the LAFD reported.

The circumstances of the injuries were under investigation.
