The Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade scheduled for Halloween has been postponed due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Tuesday.

The Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce and the Golf Cart Parade committee announced the postponement on social media.

“Over the past week, we started to receive word that many of the usual parade participants — including many of the young people who march, volunteer, and attend — will not be able to attend the parade this year,” parade organizers said in a statement on Facebook. “This meant that we would lose some of the staples of a great parade such as our music, our pancake breakfast and many of the children and families who usually line El Paseo to take in the spectacle.”

This year’s theme was “Masquerade Party” and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Tom Flores and his wife Barbara were scheduled to serve as the parade’s Grand Marshals.

No new date was announced, but organizers said, “We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade in 2022!”
