Coachella will be hosting an in-person event Thursday to get the public’s opinion on how to utilize American Rescue Plan Act grant funds.
The event is exclusively for residents and business owners within Coachella and will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday near the rear entrance of the Coachella Public Library located on Seventh Street.
“The road to recovery is a long one after these past 18 months of shutdowns, job loss and overall economic impact to our city,” City Councilwoman Josie Gonzalez said. “We’d like to leverage this grant funding to benefit our residents and proprietors in the most valuable way, toward initiatives that mean the most to them.”
The city will be gathering public opinion via brief surveys handed out both physically and digitally and will be providing free food and onsite child care to attendees.
“It is important that we seek input from our community, especially those most impacted by COVID-19,” Councilwoman Denise Delgado said. “Hearing from residents about how to prioritize these funds is essential in the decision-making process. It provides us an opportunity to invest the funds back into their community that is truly reflective of residents’ voices.”
