A twin-engine airplane experienced engine trouble on approach to Riverside Municipal Airport Wednesday, prompting an emergency response by fire crews until the plane landed safely.

Air traffic control tower personnel requested fire department assistance about 10:30 a.m. after the pilot of the Piper Seminole reported vibrations in one of his engines, fearing that he might have to shut it down.

According to the fire department, crews deployed to the airport and took up precautionary positions near the tarmac for about five minutes, after which the plane landed uneventfully.

In addition to the pilot, one other person was aboard the Piper, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, and airport operations were not disrupted.
