The number of COVID-positive patients in Riverside County hospitals decreased by six people Monday, according to county figures.
There were 92 COVID patients in county hospitals, with 18 in intensive care, down one from Sunday’s report from the state.
The Riverside University Health System on Monday also reduced its overall pandemic death toll by two, bringing the county’s virus-related deaths down to 6,425. No explanation was provided as to the subtraction.
The RUHS reported 636 new positive COVID cases on Monday. The aggregate number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the county since the pandemic began was 595,903 as of Monday.
The RUHS does not report COVID data on weekends.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 3,827 on Monday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 595,903. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 585,651.
Fatalities are considered trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, meaning some deaths may have actually occurred weeks ago, according to health officials.
