A fire that broke out in a homeless encampment in Riverside was under investigation Sunday.
The fire was reported at 1:10 p.m. in the 6900 block of Van Buren Boulevard in the Hole Lake area, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
The fire burned a 100-foot-by-100-foot area of heavy vegetation, and firefighters had to use a chainsaw for perimeter control work and overhaul, fire officials said.
The blaze was contained at 2 p.m. and the cause was under investigation.
