Two separate crashes within minutes of each other at a Moreno Valley intersection left four people injured Wednesday.
The first crash was reported at about 1:20 p.m. at Nason Street and Elder Avenue, just north of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said a car plowed into a utility pole.
Several minutes after firefighters reached the location, two vehicles impacted within the same intersection, though the circumstances were unclear, officials said.
Multiple ambulances were summoned, but only one of the four injured parties requested further treatment and was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center, according to reports from the scene. The other three victims declined to be transported, indicating that they would seek medical treatment on their own.
The intersection was partially closed because of the crashes.
Sheriff’s deputies were investigating both accidents.
