The Los Angeles Football Club will celebrate Pride Month at Sunday’s game against the New York Red Bulls with both teams wearing special pride-themed warm-up tops, rainbow-themed pompoms will be distributed and LGBTQ community heroes will be honored before the game and at halftime.

A Pride-themed banner will be unveiled by The 3252 Independent Supporters Union.

Paul Ruiz, the president of the Pride Republic, LAFC’s LGBTQ supporters’ group, will be the honorary falconer. One of the team’s four falcons is released before the start of each game at Banc of California Stadium for a pregame flight at the center of the field, hunting a lure of the opponent’s crest.

LAFC has Major League Soccer’s best record, 9-3-3. The Red Bulls are 7-4-5, sharing the fifth-best record.

The noon game will be televised by ABC and the Spanish-language cable network ESPN Deportes.
