One person was killed when an SUV went off a freeway and rolled down an embankment in Moreno Valley Saturday.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at 12:55 p.m. on the eastbound side of the 60 Freeway west of World Logistics Center Parkway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The California Highway Patrol said the SUV rolled down a dirt embankment at least 100 feet and landed on its roof.

Firefighters had to cut through the wreckage to free the person who died, fire officials said.

Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.

The center lane on the eastbound side of the freeway remained shut down due to the crash Saturday afternoon.
