At least one person died Saturday when a vehicle veered off a freeway, into a ditch in the Palm Springs area.
The solo-vehicle crash happened on the Sonny Bono Memorial (10) Freeway near Whitewater Mile Marker 28 around 5 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle was crushed in the accident, which started a small brush fire, the CHP reported.
The age and gender of the victim was not released by authorities. The person’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
It was not immediately clear if there were any other occupants of the vehicle.
