At least one high school football coach was placed on leave after assault allegations by a player on an opposing team during a postgame fracas, according to a report Saturday.
A player from Bishop Amat Memorial High School says he was assaulted by two coaches with Damien High School, according to a report by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Jesse Ramos, the father of Bishop Amat senior running back Aiden Ramos, confirmed the allegations in which the player said he had his shoulder pads grabbed and his helmet ripped off.
Damien officials have not responded, but a letter sent to parents Saturday night said the Archdiocese is aware of the allegations made in a battery report filed with La Verne police against a coach, and that the coach was placed on leave. The statement said the Archdiocese was fully cooperating with the investigation.
