The City Council voted Friday to request a draft ordinance that would raise the amount required for contracts with the city that must be noted in writing to $25,000.
The current amount that would trigger a written contract is $5,000, but Council President Paul Krekorian sought in a motion last week to raise the amount. He said it would streamline the city’s contracting process, increase efficiency and reduce staff time.
The amount was last updated in 1999. A charter amendment in 1995 allows the contracting limits to be revised via an ordinance.
