A brush fire scorched about two acres of vegetation in the Baldwin Hills area Monday, but no injuries or structural damage were reported.

Los Angeles city and county fire department crews responded to the 4700 block of South La Brea Avenue around 2:20 p.m.

The brush fire was initially moving uphill with the potential to threaten some structures, county fire officials said.

Structure-protection crews were brought in, but crews were able to quickly get the upper hand on the blaze, with forward progress of the fire halted shortly after 3 p.m., county fire officials said. It was officially knocked down about an hour later, with no structural damage.

A stretch of La Brea Avenue was closed during the firefight, causing traffic headaches in the area. Motorists were urged late Monday afternoon to continue avoiding the area, as crews remained on scene to fully mop up the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
