Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department battled an 8-acre fire in Jurupa Valley Thursday.
The fire was reported at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the 11000 block of Landon Drive, and was initially estimated at 7 acres with light flashing fuels, according to firefighters.
The forward rate of spread was stopped at 8 acres, and firefighters announced they would remain committed for five hours.
The location of the fire resulted in the closure of interstate 15 between Limonite Avenue and Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
