An adult died Monday and two children were injured in a crash between a big rig and a Kia sedan in Lancaster.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol just before 6 p.m. Monday on Challenger Way at Avenue E.
A witness told the CHP that the Kia Sorento was blocking the roadway due to a previous crash when the big rig struck it.
Two children were airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in what Los Angeles County Firefighter Christian Reynoso termed “moderate condition.” It appeared three adults were treated at the scene for any injuries.
One adult was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital by ground ambulance in critical condition, Reynoso said.
A witness told the CHP that firefighters performed CPR on one person at the scene.
The CHP also reported the person was pronounced dead in the hospital.
The big rig was hauling coffee, according to the CHP’s online log.
CHP temporarily shut down the intersection for the crash investigation.
