A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in Lake Elsinore.
The crash was reported at 11:59 p.m. Saturday on Mission Trail, 500 feet south of Hidden Trail.
Deputies and Cal Fire found the pedestrian in the roadway after being hit by the vehicle.
Justin Allen of Lake Elsinore was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:10 a.m. Sunday after paramedics provided attempted life-saving measures, the sheriff’s department said.
The driver, whose identity was not released, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The agency said alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
