Two people were displaced by a residential fire in Riverside Sunday, the Riverside Fire Department announced.

The fire was reported around 4:45 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of John Street.

According to the department, the fire originated in an attached carport and spread into a two-car garage.

Upon arrival, firefighters attacked the fire and were able to limit the spread to the garage. There was minimal damage to the living areas of the residence.

Firefighters determined the cause of the fire was failure of equipment.

Two people were displaced by the fire, but there were no injuries reported.

The Riverside FD determined there was a loss of $100,000 to the structure and another $100,000 to the contents.
